A Folkestone-based toy company has acquired a leading jigsaw puzzle brand.

Bigjigs Toys, a family-run firm established in 1985 and operating out of Shearway Business Park, designs and sells toys in more than 100 countries worldwide.

Now it has added another string to its bow with the acquisition of Scottish firm The House of Puzzles. It has a range of more than 350 jigsaws and has built up a loyal following with puzzle enthusiasts.

And puzzles are no strangers to Bigjigs’ founders Liz and Peter Ireland - when they first started the business, they worked from their garden shed making jigsaw puzzles from old floorboards.

Their son, Sam Ireland, operations director of Bigjigs Toys, said: “Puzzles were the first product Mum and Dad created back in 1985, so this exciting acquisition feels like the perfect fit.

“Looking ahead, we are committed to preserving the legacy of this beloved brand, while infusing it with a Bigjigs touch of playfulness and innovation.”
