A property expert has joined the Rochester Bridge Trust's senior management team.

The trust owns and maintains the two road bridges and the service bridge at Rochester.

Now it has hired Tim Cathcart to become its new chief estates officer to manage its property portfolio.

He had previously acted as a professional advisor to the charity during a 10-year spell with property firm Savills.

Sue Threader, the trust's chief executive, said: “The trust is an ancient charity operating in a modern world. One of the areas where its history is particularly evident is its extensive property portfolio, which was originally established in 1399 – and still includes some lands bequeathed at that time.

“Having been an advisor to the trust for many years we are pleased Tim is now becoming a full-time member of the team, where his years of experience and extensive knowledge of rural and commercial property will be invaluable.”

Mr Cathcart has worked in the county and south east for the last 20 years.

He said: “The charity’s name and location means that people know about Rochester’s bridges, whereas the estate which has played a significant role in the story of the charity is relatively unknown to the public. I’m looking forward to overseeing this extensive and diverse property portfolio and learning more about its history.”
