Apogee Corporation, the print and document technology firm, has made its fourth takeover in six months to become Europe’s largest independent company in its sector.
The business, which made Maidstone its headquarters after taking over Balreed in 2015, has acquired Danwood for an undisclosed sum.
Danwood was the UK’s largest provider of document technology and the deal increases the combined firms’ annual turnover to more than £250 million.
Joint chief executives Jason Collins and Robin Stanton-Gleaves will continue to run the business, which has become Europe’s largest independent provider of managed services for print, document and process technology.
Mr Collins said: “This significant acquisition for Apogee provides us with the scale and reach to be a leading player in the European market for managed print services.
“Danwood has terrific strengths that complement Apogee’s offering and strategy.”
The takeover is the fourth since Apogee secured a “significant investment” from mid-market private equity investor Equistone Partners Europe in September.
Since then it has also acquired Direct Business Systems, Hibernian Business Equipment and CityDocs.
Mr Stanton-Gleaves, who joined the business after the takeover of Maidstone-based Balreed, which he founded in 2004, said: “Having created Europe’s largest service provider with the addition of Danwood to the Group, we look forward to further extending our leadership in pro-active managed services and advanced workflow solutions.”
