Creative and sustainable independent firms are being invited to take part at an open day this week being organised by a Canterbury shop.

The Platform Shop, which describes itself as a 'contemporary gallery and gift shop' is on St Dunstan's Street and opened in September last year.

It stocks a range of original art, prints and products.

Each month it is putting on an Open Yard Day to showcase stalls from local independent traders - the third of which takes place this Saturday, September 4.

A spokesman for the store said: "So far the events have been extremely successful. Small businesses wanting to get involved should get in touch with us."
