SLIMMER Pauline Duncan has discovered a diet anyone would be happy to sign up to. It’s the 'eat more food' diet.

Pauline was the most successful woman in the BAE Systems staff Weight Loss Challenge, and she insists that she ate more food during the challenge than before. Despite that, she lost more than a stone.

She said: "Before the challenge I was skipping breakfast and just having an apple for lunch.

"But during the challenge I had a proper breakfast and lunch, as well as dinner in the evening. But I was eating healthily and walking a lot more."

Nearly 60 BAE employees took part in the challenge, losing 34 stone between them, through better diets and more exercise.

They were monitored by the company’s occupational health team. Successful losers received certificates at a celebration. A special award went to Dave Williams, who lost two stone, more than anyone else.

"Being part of a team helped because it introduced a competitive element," he said. "But I spent 40 minutes walking to work each day and the same back in the evening. And I cut out sweets and fatty foods."

The prize for the most successful man went to Paul Everitt. "My father died suddenly from a heart attack shortly before the challenge, so I had good reason to be motivated," he said.

The most motivated woman was Angela Forrest. "I had been getting out of breath, and had to spend some time in hospital last year with heart problems," she said.

Prize for the most motivated man went to Sid Mennie.
