Hundreds of Boots stores across the country face the threat of closure as another major town centre giant struggles to make a success of the high street.
The American owners of the chain, Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA), is understood to have placed more than 200 outlets under review with the potential of the stores being closed over the next 24 months.
Boots has dozens of stores across the county, including outlets in all our major towns.
Any closures would deliver another massive blow to town centres already reeling from the planned closures of the likes of Debenhams and Marks & Spencer.
The KM understands no decision has yet been made on which stores will close - but that it is likely a number would be shut.
Those most at risk are where there are two Boots stores in the same town, or where leases are close to expiry.
