Regional law firm Brachers has appointed its first non-contentious construction specialist.

Romano Obertelli joins as a partner. Educated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, he was previously with Addleshaw Goddard in the City for 12 years and most recently with a boutique practice. He has also spent time abroad as principal legal adviser for a major international company.

Mr Obertelli has extensive experience of advising on different procurement routes, amending industry standard forms (including JCT, NEC, FIDIC, RIBA and ACE) and drafting bespoke construction and engineering contracts, together with the full suite of ancillary documentation.

He has acted for a range of clients on a variety of different projects, both domestic and international.

"Along with Michael Janney, who has recognised contentious construction capability, we are now able to offer both existing and potential clients a comprehensive service across the building and construction sector.

"He will be splitting his time between the firm's Maidstone and London offices depending on clients' needs."
