Business women rewarded for enterprise

MINISTER for Women, Barbara Roche, will present certificates to 30 female entrepreneurs from across Swale this month.

They have all set up their own businesses following completion of a new programme of personal development and business skills, training and support organised by Faversham-based Enterprise Direct Limited.

The programme was funded by the Learning and Skills Council for Kent and Medway as well as Swale Housing Association.

They provided the women with workshops on personal development, communication, research of business ideas, marketing, business and financial planning.

Indian head massage, aromatherapy, ceramics and children's clothes are just some of the businesses set up by the women.

Anyone wishing to attend the conference at Sittingbourne's Wyvern Hall on May 21 is welcome. The £30 ticket includes lunch and products and services will be displayed. Members of the public can attend free from 1.30pm to 4.30pm. To reserve a place for the full day ring 01795 533627.

Enquiries are also welcome from any other women who would like to book exhibit space.
