Follow in the footsteps of royalty as a much-loved cafe goes on the market.
Teapot Island, in Yalding, was visited by King Charles and the Queen Consort back in 2014 after meeting those affected by Christmas time floods in the area.
The cafe, which is known for its bizarre yet fascinating display of thousands of teapots, and its attached accommodation, is now on the market for £950,000.
The restaurant, which was described as a “surreal experience” in an Eat My Words review by one of our reporters, comes with a fully fitted kitchen, customer toilets, and a conservatory area with additional seating.
There’s also a small but charming outdoor seating area next to the river for diners to enjoy in the warmer months, along with a children’s play area.
The additional space inside the cafe is currently used as a museum, which displays more than 8,000 teapots collected over the decades.
For £2.50, visitors can admire the quirky collection after their meal, including festive teapots, teapots based on popular brands such as Guinness and Harley Davidson, and teapots dating back to the 1930s.
Unfortunately, the extensive collection isn't included with the current sale, but potential buyers can discuss purchasing it at an additional cost if they wish to keep the teapot museum going.
For those thinking about snapping up Teapot Island, it won’t just be a unique cafe that they’ll be buying - a four-bedroom property is also part of the package.
The house has three bedrooms on the ground floor, with an additional fourth bedroom with its own en suite bathroom on the first floor.
The residential property also features a spacious kitchen, family bathroom and large reception room.
The biggest surprise of the house, however, is that it comes with its very own private swimming pool.
The pool can be found in the back garden, which is tucked behind the property and hidden from the view of customers enjoying their meal outside the front of the cafe.
For the ease of both customers and those living in the family home, Teapot Island is only a short drive from the county town of Maidstone, and half a mile from Yalding train station.
