Charity gives recognition for tireless work

AN INSPIRATIONAL father-of-two has won a regional award for his tireless charity work.

Nik Brooks, 33, from Rochester, has been named as South East staff member of the year for the employment charity the Shaw Trust.

The charity provides support to individuals finding it hard to gain employment due to disability or social situation.

Mr Brooks delivers life-changing courses to ready disadvantaged people for work or further education.

He said: “It was a really proud moment when I was nominated and it’s always nice to have your hard work recognised.”

His boss, Shaw Trust operations manager, Lindsay Jardine, was also pleased for him. She said: “Nik really deserves his award."
