A distillery is releasing two 'winter spirits' ahead of the festive season.
Greensand Ridge Distillery has released an apple brandy as well as a Pedro Ximenez-aged gin.
The apple brandy is the result of pressing apples which would otherwise go to waste. They are milled, pressed, fermented, distilled and cask-aged at the distillery in Shipbourne, near Tonbridge.
Head distiller Will Edge explains: "People are always asking me if gin is my favourite spirit.
“I do love gin and ours has won numerous international awards, but the truth is, apple brandy was my first love.
“My guess is that people probably wonder why in this part of the world apple brandy is not more of a thing. That intuition has been proved correct by the amount of interest in this spirit, since we began pressing apples in 2016."
Its new gin, meanwhile, has been rested in European oak casks, previously used to age Pedro Ximénez sweet sherry.
The in is infused with the raisin and molasses spice of the cask to give an overall impression of Christmas pudding.
