A luxury men’s clothing boutique exceeded its Christmas sales targets as revenues increased by 8% in December compared to last year.
Monks & Co, founded in 2013, also managed a 15% increase in turnover on Black Friday after a three-day sale throughout the weekend.
The company, launched by entrepreneur Amy Barker, gets the majority of revenues from its shop in Swan Street, West Malling, and adds about 10% online.
Ms Barker set up the business with an £8,000 loan from the Start Up Loans Company to invest in stock and develop the website.
She aims to built the firm’s web presence to split income half and half with physical sales.
She said: “Retail sales always spike from the end of November to the end of the year, but this year was even more successful than we could have imagined.
“It was a record year, and we’ll be entering 2017 in a great position to grow the business.
“We are looking forward to see what’s in store for the year to come. As a growing retail business, we hope to strengthen our presence in the Kent area, and possibly open another store if the business continues to do well.”
