One of the county's leading coach companies is marking its 50th anniversary this month.

The Kings Ferry Travel Group, which has been based in Gillingham for the last 19 years, was founded by Peter O'Neill in 1968. He remained at the helm until National Express bought the company in 2007.

In addition to coach services within the county it operates commuter services and handles a host of corporate travel for clients such as Premier League football clubs, the BBC and Sky.

Managing director Ian Fraser said: "We are extremely proud of our longevity and success as a company, and I wish to thank our outstanding team,

“As new technological and social opportunities arise in the next decade, we will remain flexible and true to our values."

The company today operates a fleet of 87 vehicles, ranging from minibuses to 77-seater executive coaches.

To mark the anniversary, it has wrapped one of its coaches in a special livery.

After becoming part of the National Express Group in 2007, it purchased London-based operator Clarkes of London in December 2016.
