A website is being launched to allow people to get involved in planning for Medway’s future development and investment needs.
Visitors will be able to log on and put forward suggestions for the area’s updated Core Strategy, which is a key part of the Local Development Framework that will set out strategic policies for the Towns.
This Local Development Framework will then be used to guide development and investment in Medway until 2026.
Cllr Jane Chitty, portfolio holder for strategic development and economic growth, said: “This is an important step in beginning the process of setting out a new long term plan for Medway.
“It will affect everyone and we are committed to engaging with as many people as possible over the coming months so that we reflect local needs and the views of the community as a whole.”
People registering on the new website – available online at www.medway.gov.uk/ldf - will be automatically notified of progress as the plan develops and there will be various consultation periods over the next year.
The council is writing to everyone who has previously expressed an interest in this new plan this week, setting out how they can get involved in its preparation and influence the future shape of Medway.
Leaflets explaining the document is available in all local libraries and council contact centres.
