A member of the victorious England Women's Rugby World Cup squad will be a keynote speaker at a leading business event later this year.
Medway-native Rachael Burford will share stories from an illustrious sporting career at Kent B2B Medway this September.
Since first picking up a ball at the age of six, the star has gone on to play on the winning teams at the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2014 and the Women’s Six Nations in 2017.
Kent B2B Medway returns to the Historic Dockyard Chatham on Thursday, September 20 and is organised by the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce.
Jo James, chief executive of the chamber, said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming Rachael. It is fantastic to hear how this Medway local has gone on to enjoy remarkable success, while still giving back to her local area.
“With the great line up and impressive venue, we think this year’s show will have the wow factor. It’s also a great opportunity to network, catch up on what’s new in the county, share updates and learn new skills.”
Born in Chatham, the rugby ace works closely with Kent clubs to develop the next generation of players. She has also set up the Burford Academy, which helps young girls gain confidence on and off the rugby pitch in Kent and the surrounding counties.
Digital firm Sleeping Giant Media will be returning to Kent B2B Medway to host social media and digital marketing workshops while Medway Council will be headline sponsor.
Marking its 20th anniversary this year, a focus of the event will be business success in the area over the past two decades.
The event is free to attend.
