The National Farmers Union will gather members in Kent to ask their views on its vision for British agriculture post-Brexit, as part of its biggest ever consultation.
The NFU will ask growers and livestock rearers to comment on its options paper, setting out policy on trade, access to labour, financial support and regulation.
The report will then go before the NFU Policy Board on September 29, before final agreement by the NFU Council in October.
NFU South East regional director William White said: “This consultation is an historic, once in a lifetime opportunity for NFU members to shape future farming policy and create the conditions for a productive and sustainable future for agriculture in this country.
“NFU farmer and grower members from all sectors, from across the South East, will be asked to consider detailed options for a new and ambitious agricultural policy and their views will be collated in a final report.
“We need as many members as possible to take part in this consultation. When the regional consultation with our members is complete we will then work with other farming organisations to ensure that agriculture can capitalise on new opportunities and secure a profitable and productive future outside the European Union.”
The union will hold its only Kent consultation event at Amos Hall in Ashford Market in Orbital Park on Monday, August 22 from 7.30am to 10am.
