ALL eyes will be on the skies above Thanet in June when the island hosts its second annual air show.
Renamed Kent Air Show, the event will be held during Father’s Day weekend on June 17 and 18 at the Palm Bay clifftop promenade at Cliftonville.
It will incorporate a spectacular air display involving the latest fast jets, vintage and World War II aircraft, and parachute displays.
There will also be an extensive and diverse range of on-ground activities, many of them interactive, including trade stands, exhibits, lifestyle features, military vehicles, static displays, assault courses, musical entertainment and children’s rides and activities.
Thanet council has re-appointed event management company Tonge Events following the success of the first air day at Palm Bay last year.
Cllr Roger Latchford, cabinet member for commercial services, said: "The clifftops of Palm Bay provide the perfect natural setting for this event and the new name for the event recognises the regional impact of the event."
John Ratcliffe from Tonge Events said: "This magnificent event represents the perfect opportunity for the businesses of the region to invest in and gain association with one of the major and most important events for Kent."
Tickets are now on sale at Margate Winter Gardens, telephone 01843 292795/296111. They are £7.50 in advance and £10 on the day. Seven to 16 year olds pay just £3 in advance and £4 on the day, a reduction from £5 last year. Children under the age of seven will be admitted free of charge and must be accompanied by an adult.
