HIGH-SPEED cross-Channel operator SpeedFerries’ boss Curt Stavis says he is proud his company has been credited with bringing ferry fares down this year.

His comments follow Eurotunnel blaming SpeedFerries for huge price cuts on car tickets. Mr Stavis says he is “flattered” by this, and has announced even cheaper tickets for next year.

He said: “SpeedFerries is indeed proud to be mentioned as the reason for the huge price reductions on car tickets customers have experienced this year on the Dover Strait. Bringing sense into the cross-Channel market is probably what SpeedFerries is most proud of.

“In addition to the plan to introduce one more fast ferry next year, to double the capacity on the Dover-Boulogne service, SpeedFerries is determined to bring down ticket pricing even further on the cross-Channel market.

“To demonstrate the company’s long-term commitment to low cost travelling, the newly marketed SuperTickets will now be offered to all customers at no extra cost the rest of this year.”

This means all travellers will be able to order tickets for next year for £50 for a car and six passengers. The offer is for all departures at any time and the tickets can be amended for a £10 fee.

Mr Stavis added: “SpeedFerries is convinced the total pricing on the Dover Strait will be pushed further down during the coming year, to the benefit of the customers."
