ONE of the most exotic supercars ever produced was trusted to the care of P&O Ferries when a rare Ferrari Enzo boarded the Pride of Kent at Dover.
Borrowing technology straight from Michael Schumacher’s Formula 1 car, the Enzo is the fastest and most expensive road car ever produced by Ferrari.
After drawing admiring glances every inch of its way through the docks, it fell to P&O Ferries’ Paul Mitchell to see the car safely onto the ship, but not before persuading driver Nick Trott to let him have a peek in the cockpit.
“We see some amazing cars in this job but I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Paul. “It looked like it could take off.”
The car’s race-bred pedigree means a six-litre engine producing 660 horsepower. If the Pride of Kent could match the Enzo’s top speed of around 220 miles per hour the crossing from Dover to Calais would take a little over five minutes.
However, such performance comes at a price. A Ferrari Enzo would set a buyer back about £500,000 if you can find one - the production run was limited to just 399.
