Foot passengers will soon be able to travel with SpeedFerries on their service between Dover and Boulogne.
Since launching their operation, with one high-speed sea-cat, the company has only taken people in vehicles.
Chief executive Curt Stavis announced that a new foot passenger service will be launched on Friday July 11, but only for a limited number.
Up to 16 pedestrians will embark on the SpeedFerries shuttle bus directly outside the Hoverport at Dover and then be transported onto the Speed One craft for the 50-minute crossing.
In Boulogne, foot passengers will be taken to a drop off point directly outside the port, only a short walk from the town centre. With an excellent array of restaurants, sites of historical interest, small boutiques and a newly opened casino; the town has genuine charm.
SpeedFerries operates up to six crossings a day.
