An investment company has bought a parade of shops in one of the county's town centres.
Evolve Estates has bought 14 units in Calverley Road, Tunbridge Wells - the town's main pedestrianised retail hub, neighbouring Royal Victoria Place.
The deal is for an "undisclosed amount" but believed to run into several million pounds.
It has acquired 67,000sq ft of space between 2-46 Calverley Road, which includes units currently let to the likes of Waterstones, Fat Face, Nationwide, EE and Barclays.
And it says residential space will be created "over time".
Joe O’Keefe, director of Evolve Estates, said: “This is a solid investment in prime Tunbridge Wells; we are already finding tenant demand for space and this high street parade is performing strongly, with robust footfall and diverse occupiers.
"Over time, under utilised and redundant ‘upper parts’ are likely to be converted to much-needed residential units, which the buildings lend themselves to physically and aesthetically.”
