TO ENHANCE its operational capabilities in London a leading global logistics service provider has relocated to Dartford. Kuehne and Nagel has moved into a new 85,000 sq ft facility at Crossways Business Park so that it can focus on activities relating to industry sectors with specific customer requirements.
The new facility will be the centre of excellence for global aid and relief, led by Tom Garbutt, and will focus on rapid-reaction, interim solutions and long-term strategies to deal with humanitarian emergencies. International forwarding services for the oil and energy sector, sea freight, air freight, project forwarding and warehouse/transit operations will also be carried out.
In addition, the new depot has facilities for export packing and heavy lift capability and will be both ERTS and CFSP compliant. Kuehne and Nagel's 40 employees at Dartford are housed in 8,000 sq ft of office space, alongside 26,000 sq ft of warehousing, consisting of floor storage and transit warehousing.
This is combined with a pick and pack operation, a mezzanine area for storage and an in-house packing facility. The site also has 50,000 sq ft of yard space into which racking and ramp facilities will be installed.
