Greener and cheaper computer systems are promised by a Kent firm’s new campaign.

ADA Technology Services, based in Kings Hill, West Malling, is hosting a series of free seminars to tell businesses how they can reduce the amount of power used by their IT network.

The Green IT Campaign will outline the practical steps mid-size companies can take to cuts costs, reduce power consumption and improve their disaster recovery capabilities.

'Virtualisation' means creating virtual computers from software, on a server that could be based anywhere, so that users across a company will not each need power-hungry base unit.

Roger Woodcock, who heads up ADA’s Kent office, said: "These interactive workshops will give Kent-based organisations the opportunity to learn from live virtualisation projects and to meet organisations that have already made the move to either server or desktop virtualisation infrastructures."

He added: "They can learn from ADA’s own use of thin client desktop devices. We have enjoyed low power usage and reduced operational overheads now for five years.

"Furthermore, our adoption of thin client devices made ADA’s recent move from Canterbury to West Malling very straightforward."
