A COMPANY from Deal is taking a starring role in a film which has been hailed as "brilliant". Jacetts, in Hope Road, was asked to make the kit for the football teams in the comedy Bend It Like Beckham.

"We are very proud to be asked," said managing director John Trickey. "They needed a company who could complete the order in two weeks and they found us on the Internet. The production company wanted these girls' football shirts done very quickly to a specific design. I haven't seen the film yet, but people say it is brilliant."

So the company quickly churned out 34 shirts, 30 shorts and two goal keeper kits. Bend It Like Beckham is the story of a young Asian girl who fights against her traditions and culture to join the local football team, the Hounslow Harriers.
