Palletways team celebrate the launch of their new Dartford depot

A freight business has created five jobs at a new pallet depot.

The 19,500 sq ft depot in Dartford marks another milestone in the growth of the Palletways Group and boosts the locally-based workforce to 14.

The European palletised freight distributor already operates depots in Lichfield, Edinburgh, Oxford and Greenford.

The new depot will service clients in the DA and BR postcode areas, collecting and delivering small consignments of palletised freight for onward delivery across the UK, Ireland, the Benelux countries, Denmark, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal and Italy.

Andy Turner, managing director for Palletways Owned Operations, said: "The move to open a new depot in Dartford is part of a wider national and international growth strategy.

"Over the years, we have built a very efficient delivery network and Dartford presented a number of good business opportunities, which would allow us to replicate the success we've had in other parts of the UK and mainland Europe."

Palletways was set up in 1994. It now has more than 300 depots across the group, delivering 3.5m pallets a year in the UK and nearly 2m in mainland Europe.
