Food standards team wins praise

THE borough council team which checks hygiene and safety at restaurants and other food outlets in Tonbridge, has been praised by the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

According to the FSA agency, the team's reports were helpful, clearly worded and easy to understand.

The FSA also noted that the council was prepared to take formal enforcement action to protect the public when premises failed to meet basic food hygiene and safety standards.

Cllr David Lettington, the council's cabinet member for environmental health, said: "The agency could not find a single key area where improvement was needed.

"Food premises in Tonbridge and Malling and their customers can be assured of a top-notch service from the council."
