A golf centre is to undergo a £5 million revamp adding a health and fitness centre.
Work will begin this month at Birchwood Park Golf Centre in Wilmington, Dartford, which is set to relaunch in early 2017 once the redevelopment is complete.
Rebranded as the Birchwood Park Golf and Country Club, it will feature a 25-metre indoor pool, spa facilities and a fitness suite with 60 pieces of equipment.
Members and their guests will also be able to use three aerobics studios, new changing rooms and a larger shop, plus a cafe bar and grill.
The centre, which has an 18-hole and 9-hole course, is one of 10 golf venues and 22 courses operated by Surrey-based Burhill Golf and Leisure, which is making the investment.
Operations director Guy Riggott said: “We hope that by transforming Birchwood Park, we can create a golf and country club that provides fantastic facilities for members and guests to enjoy, and that the changes will generate a lot of interest from the surrounding area.”
Birchwood general manager Melanie Drake added: “We want everyone to be able to enjoy the new club. Our aim is to create a premium facility to be embraced by all.
“Emphasis is now on golf, fitness and wellbeing, so we wanted to use the investment to further promote healthy living to the local community.”
The fitness suite and studios are expected to be open in August.
