SHOPKEEPER Harry Goraya was surprised to be singled out for special treatment by the supplier of his new hi-tech point of sale system.
Mr Goraya of One-Stop, London Road, Northfleet, received a special plaque for being the 500th customer to install the SuperStore system designed by Kent-based CTN Systems. Managing director Paul Lansdale made the presentation to Mr Goraya.
The technically advanced electronic point of sale - EPoS - system uses Windows and IBM equipment. It aids ordering, stock control, pricing, scanning and accounting, and has modules for news control, home news delivery, E-top-up, Lotto and video rental.
The Penshurst firm launched the system just over a year ago and it is already in widespread use at convenience stores, newsagents and post offices across the country.
CTN Systems has been supplying independent retailers since 1992 and claims it has earned clients tens of millions of pounds in extra profit through improved efficiencies in stock control, VAT, theft prevention, pricing, merchandising and business advice.
Mr Goraya chose it as part of a store facelift. He said: "It was a real surprise when I was told that I was the 500th SuperStore customer, I had no idea and am really pleased to have been awarded such a fabulous plaque."
Mr Lansdale said: "We are delighted to have been able to present Harry with this plaque as we know how much the SuperStore system will help him to run his new shop and wish him every success for the future."
