SHEPHERD Neame has scooped another top industry award.
The Faversham brewer celebrated a double win at the Publican magazine awards winning Pub Company of the Year with its Hythe tenancy, the Kings Head, scooping Marketing Pub of the Year.
At the glittering event in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, Jonathan Neame said: "This was a terrific accolade, and is a real tribute to everyone in our managed houses department who has worked so hard to develop our business.
"To also see Caroline collect the marketing award, against another tough field, is testimony to her entrepreneurial flair, showing just what can be done to bring a traditional tenancy to life and make it connect with customers.
"The double win was even more gratifying, coming so soon after the company was named Kent Environment Business of the Year."
Kings Head manager Caroline Chambers and her partner Robert impressed the judges with their efforts to transform The Kings Head into one of the most successful pubs in the town.
The judges said: "The pub features an event-led programme, with the aim of keeping their customers guessing what’s coming next."
They even hold 'dress rehearsals’ the week before traditional events for St Patrick’s Day and Burns Night – and stage a Christmas function in the height of summer.
After receiving the award from TV host Jimmy Carr, Caroline said: "I’m really chuffed. It’s a big achievement, and I’m delighted the pub has won industry recognition."
