KENT-based Siegrist Orel Ltd has won potential business in China following a high-profile UK Trade & Investment trade visit.
Siegrist-Orel supplies cable markers, sleeve identification and protection products to transport, aerospace, defence, electronics, telecommunications, medical and leisure markets.
The company, based in Broadstairs, has a global client base and holds a track record for innovation, problem solving and product development.
National and international projects range from satellites, aircraft and submarines to musical instruments and sports equipment.
Siegrist-Orel was one of 10 companies from across the South East taking part in the trade visit to China and Hong Kong, funded and organised by UK Trade & Investment, the Government’s export advice and support service.
The five-day programme included visits to V-Tech - the largest hands-free telephone manufacturer in the world employing more than 10,000 people - and the Keihin engine component factory both in Dongguan, Southern China.
There were also detailed market briefings from trade officials based at the British consulates in Hong Kong, Shanghai and the Hong Kong Trade development Council.
Siegrist-Orel’s managing director Martin Daniell said: "The trade mission to China was hugely successful in allowing us to further expand our international clientele.
"UK Trade & Investment has helped us to get established in Greater China and this trade visit has potentially opened the door to some major future business, while helping us develop a greater understanding of the market."
UK Trade & Investment international trade adviser and China specialist Chris Lowsley said: "China has traditionally been regarded as difficult for our smaller firms but our delegates’ success shows that high quality, innovative, niche companies can win outstanding business and widespread interest there.
"Our network of experienced trade advisers and local commercial staff in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong helps companies maximise their chances of winning international business across this region."
