LOCATE in Kent, the county's inward investment agency, is working hard to attract IT business to Kent.

LiK made the case for East Kent by taking a stand at the InfoSecurity exhibition and conference in the Grand Hall at Olympia, London, one of the largest computer industry tradeshows.

The show attracted more than 10,000 leading figures from the IT industry, both domestically and internationally.

LiK was joined on the stand by The Bunker - a specialist, ultra secure data centre based in an ex-military command bunker in East Kent - a thriving example of the area's established IT base.

The Bunker provides data storage and handling facilities up to 30m below ground that are completely secure from the threat of unauthorised intrusions, natural disasters and terrorism. It is designed to be entirely self-contained for up to 90 days.

Philip Last, business development manager at LiK with specific responsibility for East Kent, said: "InfoSecurity proved to be an enormous success for East Kent; during the three days we made considerable contact with companies looking to expand or relocate and we were able to strongly argue Kent's case.

"Our partners The Bunker drew an outstanding level of interest and provided a concrete example of the type of innovative and successful IT operations we already have in East Kent.

"Together we made a very convincing argument for increased development of the IT sector in the area."
