IT training centre planned

COLLEGE chiefs have lodged plans with Dartford Council to open a computer training and Internet access centre in Swanscombe. North West Kent College, which has two large campuses in Dartford and Gravesend, wants to bring the new facilities to The Parade as part of its in2learn.com initiative. A college spokesman said: "It's about bringing learning into the community. We have carried out some market research with individuals and community groups, which certainly showed a demand for it." If given the go-ahead, the new facility would offer information technology and business management courses, and publicise details of college programmes offered elsewhere in north west Kent. The college is also examining the possibility of opening a similar facility at Dartford's Darent Valley Hospital.
