The head of a Kent organisation that supports local projects and good causes is stepping down.

Carol Lynch has announced she is leaving her role as chief executive of Kent Community Foundation in October after six years at the helm.

“I am very sad indeed to let you know that I will be moving on to a new challenge," she said.

"It has been a huge privilege to work with so many wonderful people. I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has made my last six years such a rewarding and inspiring experience.”

Ms Lynch, who started her career as a civil engineer and who worked on projects including the Channel Tunnel, is set to take up a new job as CEO at Construction Youth Trust – a national charity that create opportunities for young people and helps them access sustainable employment in the construction industry.

A statement from the Kent Community Foundations Trustees said Ms Lynch would be 'sorely missed’ from the organisation, adding: “Carol has been an inspirational chief executive, not only in the way in which she has run things, but in her passionate advocacy for local philanthropy to support small community led groups helping the most disadvantaged in our society.”

Kent Community Foundation is one of 48 Community Foundations across the UK, committed to improving the lives of local people and communities. Since its inception in 2001, it has helped thousands of local charities, projects and good causes across Kent and Medway.

During Ms Lynch’s time in control, funds managed by KCF have grown from approximately £5 million to £15 million.
