Kent entrepreneur who lost takeaway business bounces back with new global firm

A budding entrepreneur will be launching a new Kent-based logistics company distributing goods across the UK and Europe.

Mazdul Islam’s business DM Logistics in Lympne Industrial Estate has a staff base of 50 and a fleet of more than 100 trucks and more than 100 trailers.

.

It transports everything from food, furniture and chairs to motorcycles throughout the continent.

The company has multiple warehouses across England where customers can park their vehicles and store their equipment, as well as a base in mainland Europe.

..

Islam, who is Bangladeshi and claims to have the largest fleet of any UK-based Asian logistics business owner, also runs a security firm, Hythe Security, and a university and college entry support venture, Invention Hub.

He also gave free help and advice to people starting up their own businesses at the Folkestone Business Hub.

..

Having lost his takeaway business in Hythe eight years ago after suffering a breakdown, Islam started again from scratch, going away to formulate new business ideas and subsequently launching Hythe Security and Invention Hub.

Then, following a meeting with a CEO of a transport company in Lympne Industrial Estate who agreed to back him, he established DM Logistics.

..

“This is only the start of my journey,” said Islam. “I hope to inspire others who may be facing similar issues to uncover exciting new opportunities and fulfil their dreams.”

Islam is also planning to launch another new business in the next 12 months and to achieve his lifelong ambition of pitching his idea on Dragons’ Den.

DM Logistics is open 24/7. For more information, call 07842 870263.
