A law firm is set to break with tradition by appointing three new managing partners next year.

Thackray Williams, which has an office in Sevenoaks and is headquartered in nearby Bromley, has lined up a trio of replacements for when current managing partner, Sean Sanders, steps down in March.

In his place will be Vikki Herbert, Anthony Macey and Emma Thompson.

It comes after the firm announced record financial results in May - which saw revenues increase by 9.1% to £12.2 million - after moving away from the high street and increasing its emphasis on commercial work.

Vikki Herbert, who heads the real estate sector, will take responsibility for business development, risk, compliance and client service and be based in Sevenoaks; Anthony Macey, who heads private wealth, will assume responsibility for the firm’s financial operations, performance and business analysis in London; while Emma Thompson, who heads the employment and corporate and commercial sectors, will also lead business development as well as strategic recruitment in Bromley.

All three have been with the firm for around 20 years and have sat on its board since its inception in 2019.

Explains Vikki Herbert. “Having been part of the board during such a transformational time for the firm also means we come with plenty of experience of running things, including effectively delivering change management.”

The out-going Sean Sanders added: “I was there on the day each one of them joined Thackray Williams; to see them grow into leaders of the firm is just fantastic and I know they are the perfect people to take over.”

Thackray Williams is listed in both the Legal 500 and Chambers Guides for 2025.

It has set its sights on becoming a top 200 law firm and targeting revenues of £15m by 2026/7 and £20 million by 2030.

Sean Sanders will be returning to the discipline which he qualified in - real estate and residential conveyancing - and will help run Thackray Williams’ West Wickham office.
