We all know that the last few years have been extremely difficult financially, none more so than the constantly scrutinised public sector.

Taking this in to account, two governmental organisations have joined forces to achieve their common goals of helping small and medium businesses (SMEs) become more resource efficient, legally compliant and profitable.

The South East Business Carbon Hub (SEBCH) offers the skills, knowledge and experience of Kent County Council and Environment Agency staff to SMEs regardless of industry.

There are exciting and innovative new tools available to help clients become more efficient and they are already proving invaluable in the quest for carbon reductions and financial austerity.

The Carbon Hub web site is a revolutionary way for SMEs to enter details of their utility usage and vehicle details to help them track and produce a plan showing actual carbon and monetary savings.

Once a company has signed up to the Hub, they are eligible to join the Steps To Environmental Management (STEM) scheme. This makes it simple to put an environmental management system in place and achieve an accreditation on completion of each of the three levels with constant support and advice always on-hand.

There is also the option of a review under which an adviser visits your premises to help you implement some simple ideas, offering assistance and advice on legal compliance. flood risk and any other aspects of the SEBCH service. All these services are completely free.
