AS NATIONAL Enterprise Week ended, the cream of Kent’s young entrepreneurs gathered to share ideas and gain inspiration from successful business people.

Organised by the IoD Kent Association of Young Entrepreneurs (KAYE) in association with HSBC, a mentoring supper at the Ashford International Hotel attracted more than 80 guests involved in all aspects of business.

KAYE was launched just six months ago and aims to support the business leaders of tomorrow – business people aged between 18 and 35 who are either business owners or young professionals working within a company – providing a networking and marketing forum.

Alex Ridings, chairman of KAYE, said: “We were delighted with the turnout at our first major event.

“We are passionate about encouraging enterprise and entrepreneurship in Kent and it is clear an organisation such as KAYE is necessary.”

Ian Legg, HSBC’s area director for Kent, said: “We are delighted to be involved with KAYE as the organisation stands for many of things that we champion.

“With all the changes currently taking place in Kent – in particular, investment leading to new housing and improved infrastructure – it is vital to support the young business community.”

Entrepreneur Amanda Hamilton, who set up Tea UK as an alternative to the many existing coffee shops and now sells her own brand of tea, completed the evening by providing an insight into her first four years in business.

She advised: “Think big, take advice when necessary and to never give up – dreams and dedication are a powerful combination.”
