Morleys department store is to take over a former BHS store with a series of celebrations marking the opening.
A steel orchestra who have performed for royalty, a traditional town crier and the biggest indoor maze Bexleyheath has ever seen will herald the official launch of the new Morleys department store at Broadway Shopping Centre.
The opening, which will create 100 jobs, follows a £3 million investment to refurbish the ex-BHS shop.
A series of free Easter-themed craft workshops for children will run from 10am and 3pm until Friday, April 7.
This will be followed by a giant maze taking over the central mall area until Saturday, April 15, made from 2.4m-high live hedges.
The store will be officially opened on Thursday, April 13 by the Mayor of Bexley, Cllr Eileen Pallen, accompanied by a town crier.
The Melodians Steel Orchestra will provide musical entertainment on opening day.
David Hordle, managing director at Morleys Group, said the new store had a “bright, contemporary environment which shows off our hundreds of great brands across fashion, beauty and homewares, many of which are new to Bexleyheath”.
