He has taken over from James Cook, who retired earlier in the year after 32 years with the company.
Mr Ingram is an experienced finance director with broad senior management experience in the financial and professional services sectors in the UK and abroad.
He originally qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales.
Mr Ingram said: "I am delighted to be joining such a highly regarded firm and look forward to working within the stimulating and rewarding environment they offer."
Mark Day, practice manager at Thomson Snell & Passmore, said: "We are confident Robert's experience will be of considerable value.
"He has a wealth of know-how and I'm sure the firm will benefit from his expertise."
