TWO new members have been appointed to the Learning & Skills Council for Kent and Medway (LSCKM).
Chris Hearn is a relationships director in the education sector with Barclays and Sue Glanville is head teacher at Invicta Grammar School, Maidstone.
The council’s 16 members have a vast range of experience in education, business, training and community issues to assist in their roles with LSCKM.
The council’s aim is to raise skills and educational attainment in people aged over 16.
Mr Hearn – who was a governor at Borough Green Primary School for 12 years – said: "I’m delighted to have been appointed as a council member and look forward to using my business experience to positively support its vital work."
Mrs Glanville has been headteacher at Invicta Grammar School since 1993 and has 27 years’ experience in education.
She said: "I am thrilled at being selected and trust I will bring not only my educational experience but also my commitment to lifelong learning."
Welcoming the new members, LSCKM chairman, Allan Chisholm said: "They are well-placed to help us achieve our aims of raising participation, standards and achievement in learning, as well as in meeting the needs of individuals, employers and the wider community."
