A FIRM of independent financial advisers has re-opened its office three months after it was badly damaged by fire. Terry Langston, who runs Lifeline IFA in Broad Street, Canterbury, said although the office had been redecorated and fitted with new furniture, carpets and computers, he could have done without the inconvenience.

"The fire broke out after an arsonist dropped some sort of flaming material through the letter box on Sunday, April 6," he said. "It fell on to post lying on the mat and the result was around £30,000 worth of fire and smoke damage. I have no idea why we were targeted. The police told me there had been a series of similar incidents."

Mr Langston said confidential documents relating to clients escaped damage and he was able to carry on business from temporary offices in Lombard House, Upper Bridge Street. "I was devastated to see my business go up in smoke, but a lot of people rallied round and I appreciate the help they gave me,"he said.
