EXPRESS parcels carrier Parceline has opened a new depot in the county worth nearly £6 million as part of its planned growth for 2005.
The new premises at the Riverside Business Park in Larkfield replace the depot at Larkfield Trading Estate, which the company had outgrown.
The new site is almost three times bigger - increasing square footage from 12,000 to 32,000 - and has 28 shutter doors to load and unload vehicles more efficiently.
The move will allow the company to increase its overnight capacity of 4,500 parcels to 6,000 with room for further expansion.
The new premises are equipped with the latest technology to improve the efficiency of the operation and security and an automated sorting system should make the sorting of parcels quicker.
Glyn Bowyer, deppt manager, said: "Not only is the size superior, but also the technology of the new depot. The new and fully automated parcel sorting machine means that customers’ parcels are handled even more efficiently."
