Bastion Point on White Cliffs Business Park is sold by investment firm Abrdn Property Income Trust for just under £9.5m

A border facility building in Dover - built to be part of the post-Brexit checks - has been sold for more than £9 million.

Bastion Point, on the White Cliffs Business Park in Whitfield, is an industrial unit currently let to the Secretary of State for Housing Communities and Local Government.

It is currently occupied by the Dover Port Health Authority (DPHA), part of Dover District Council, which uses it as its headquarters. It is one of its key inland inspection facilities.

However, Abrdn Property Income Trust (API), the investment fund which owned the site, has now completed the sale of the industrial unit for £9.475m.

The move is unlikely to see any change in the building’s use, but is part of a managed sell-off of the fund’s portfolio as it winds down its operations.

When contacted by KentOnline, the trust said it could not reveal the new owner as part of a confidentiality agreement. However, it said the existing rental agreement with the government still had a further two years to run and anticipated no changes.

Mark Blyth, deputy fund manager of API, said: “This is the fifth asset sale the company has completed this year and the first since the shareholder vote to proceed with a managed wind-down of the company.”
