A RECORD number of entries have been submitted for this year's Thanet District Council Business Awards.
The competition is now in its 18th year and has expanded to include seven categories.
They are: Thanet Company of the year - sponsored by Thanet Council, this award will be chosen from the winners of the other categories; Small Business Award (less than 10 employees) - sponsored by Barclays Bank plc; Medium and Large Business Award (over 10 employees) sponsored by Business Link Kent; Investing in Training Award - sponsored by Business Link Kent; Thanet Exporter of the Year - sponsored by Sericol Ltd; Thanet Tourism and Leisure Award -sponsored by Elonville Hotel, Cliftonville; The John le Baigue Trophy for Employee of the Year - sponsored by Multiglow Fires in memory of John Le Baigue
Cllr Paul Rollins, cabinet member for economic development, said: "The council is committed to supporting local businesses through its economic development unit and it is very encouraging to have received so many entries for this year's business awards.
“The level and quality of entry highlights the talent and ability in Thanet. The awards are an excellent way of recognising the achievements of our local companies".
The winners will be announced at a presentation lunch at Northdown House, Cliftonville, on Thursday, February 27.
