An architect has been recruited by Gravesham Borough Council to help spearhead regeneration in the area.
Tom Reynolds has been appointed as assistant director of strategic regeneration.
He joins the local authority from Pollard Thomas Edwards where he worked on a number of housing schemes and large scale regeneration projects.
The new recruit lives locally with his wife and two children.
He said: "I join Gravesham at an exciting time and look forward to working together with the local community, stakeholders and partners to deliver on the commitments set out in our corporate plan.
“Gravesham has an ambitious programme of regeneration that can benefit local people and business and can put Gravesham on the map in the Thames Estuary.
“Together we are delivering a Gravesham to be proud of."
Nick Brown, director of strategic environment at the council, said: “We have a number of significant regeneration projects either with planning permission in place or in the planning pipeline.
“Tom will be playing a central role in working with developers and other partners to push these projects through to completion and identify future opportunities.”
