RECRUITMENT agency PSBStaffsign are making a difference this Christmas by donating 20 computers for re-use in schools and community organisations in the developing world.
The agency, which has six offices in Kent, decided to take action when 20 machines from its nine branches became available and they learned about the work of Computer Aid International, a charity which specialises in re-homing unwanted IT equipment in poorer countries.
Three million PCs are decommissioned every year in the UK while 99 per cent of schoolchildren in the developing world leave school without ever having seen or touched a computer.
Mark Stevenson, PSBStaffsign diretor, said; "It was a perfect way for our business to put something back into the community and to make a contribution especially to children who will greatly benefit from our donation.
"In this day and age computers are vital to businesses and we are extremely fortunate that we are able to have the latest technology at our fingertips in our business and, for many of us, even at home for our families. We have helped to give this chance to developing countries."
Over 40,000 PCs have now been donated to the charity in the last six years and Computer Aid International continue to forge forward with their vital work which has such a positive social and economic impact for these developing countries.
If you have unused computers laying around your offices or at home, why not get involved in this good work and contact the charity.
