KENT employers are being urged to have their say on how new laws banning smoking in the workplace are enforced.
The call comes from Business Link Kent (BLK), the county's impartial business advice agency, in the wake of the Government’s draft regulations on smoke-free premises and vehicles, and the launch of a consultation on the proposals.
The legislation is due to be introduced in England next summer and will see almost all enclosed public places and workplaces become smoke-free.
Linda Bennett, BLK's information services manager, said: "The consultation is wide-ranging and covers the finer details of how the smoke-free legislation will be implemented and enforced.
"Views are sought on issues such as exemptions and signage requirements for smoke-free establishments.
"The Government’s aim is to ensure that the public, stakeholders and the commercial sector make their opinions known and help make the transition to smoke-free pubs, clubs, restaurants and workplaces as smooth as possible."
The consultation closes on October 9.
