IT WAS more than the stars that turned the heads of Mike and Jan Farmery when they watched the hit film Gosford Park.
"When we saw a lampshade we recognised we gave each other a knowing nod," said Mike. The couple own the Deal firm Neptune Lighting, which supplied most of the impressive shades in the beautiful country house setting of the murder mystery.
The Farmerys, of Dover Road, Walmer, were more than thrilled when their company was chosen to provide the lamps for the ever-so-British film. Mike said: "We supply a company in London who do film and television props and we are the only lampshade manufacturer that does. Our shades are in the latest James Bond, in the Gary Lineker crisps ad and the police television drama The Vice."
Neptune Lighting has been in business in Deal for 27 years and employs 22, with a factory in Beaconsfield Road and a shop in Deal High Street.
