A major shopping centre is to hold a tourism event in a bid to boost interest in the area.

Westwood Cross in Broadstairs will hold the Best of Thanet event from Friday, August 3 to Sunday, August 5 with local businesses, tourism partners and attractions all invited to take part.

Centre manager Francesca Donovan said: “Last year, Kent welcomed 60 million visitors. Our region has a wealth of attractions and we want to showcase all it has to offer at the Best of Thanet.

“We are offering local businesses free promotional stands, and already have the likes of Dreamland, Turner Contemporary and Quex Park confirm their attendance. We hope many other local attractions and businesses will want to take part, working together to put Thanet firmly on the map.”
