A green energy firm is diversifying - by launching its own brand of honey.

Green Gate in Boughton Monchelsea, specialises in solar-power gates, barriers and lighting.

But has now installed beehives at its headquarters with a view to develop its own line in honey.

Managing director Neil Sampson said: “We thought those busy bees would fit right in with us.

“It’s now a major part of our business and over the last year and into this one, Green Gate has been a hive of activity so whilst we’re relying on the sun for our business, we thought the bees were the perfect addition.”

Honey will be harvested later this month.
